Derrick White Injured Again, Celtics Provide Update
Neck Sprain Sidelines Guard
Boston Celtics point guard Derrick White left Saturday's game due to a neck sprain, the team announced.
White played just over four minutes in the Celtics' 122-106 win against the Charlotte Hornets before exiting the game. He has been limited by a toe injury that has only gotten worse since it was initially diagnosed in August of 2020.
The Celtics provided an encouraging update on White a day after the injury, saying that the sprain is not related to his toe issue. However, no timetable has been set for his return.
White has been a key player for the Celtics this season, averaging 11.7 points and 4.6 assists per game. His absence will be a blow to the team, which is currently in second place in the Eastern Conference.
The Celtics will play their next game on Tuesday against the Miami Heat.
