Hugh Freeze: Auburn's New Head Football Coach

A Proven Winner with a Checkered Past

Auburn University has named Hugh Freeze as its 31st head football coach. The 53-year-old Freeze, a native of Mississippi, comes to Auburn after four seasons at Liberty University, where he led the Flames to a 34-15 record and two bowl game appearances.

Freeze has a proven track record as a successful coach, having won five Region 8-AA Coach of the Year awards and four Associated Press High School Coach of the Year awards while coaching at Briarcrest Christian School in Tennessee.

However, Freeze also has a checkered past that may raise some eyebrows among Auburn fans. In 2017, he was forced to resign as head coach at the University of Mississippi after an NCAA investigation into his program revealed numerous violations, including academic misconduct and unethical conduct by Freeze himself.

A New Era at Auburn

Despite his past missteps, Auburn is hopeful that Freeze can bring success back to the program. The Tigers have not won an SEC Championship since 2010 and have not appeared in a bowl game since 2013.

Freeze is a proven winner and has a strong track record of developing successful offenses. He will be tasked with turning around an Auburn program that has struggled in recent years.

Conclusion

Only time will tell whether Freeze can succeed at Auburn and overcome the challenges presented by his past. However, he has shown that he is a talented coach who can win games. If he can stay out of trouble off the field, he may just be able to restore Auburn to its former glory.
